We don't dare talk about that We're doing the right thing by staying silent Ruffled feathers and all that You know, bygones Nothing would change if we did The excuses pile up Like the doubt

Fences
The barriers we put up The fences we erect Too often keep us from going out Rather than preventing others from coming in And for the same reason
Answers
Sometimes from a book Other times from a person But I find the best answers From experiences
Your parental moment of levity
Dad, walking down street with his kids, who are maybe 5 and 2. Dad: "Ruby, don't cross the street by yourself." Younger child: "Yeah, Woobie, don't cwoss the stweet by youself." That one is going to be a handful.
Storms
The storms always come And always at night Disrupting my rest, my peace, my sanity Reminding me of those moments with you Frozen like winter's ice in my memory There will never be a thaw The ice will never melt So I am stuck with you Forever
Choice
Do whatever you want Your choices are yours Unless I disapprove Then you are bad And you don't want to be bad, right?
Mountain
You keep climbing the mountain Smirking like a serpent Making fun of those you see You think they look up to you With your ego, you miss the obvious They mock you From even higher perches Places you can never reach
Reflection
Familiar eyes stare at me Knowing what I'm thinking and feeling I am not reflecting alone On days and moment gone by
