The pup has so much to learn
Am I the right teacher?
He must grow to be friendly, to protect, to love, to behave
Am I worthy of being his example?
He must become loyal, honorable, trustworthy, responsible
Have I learned those?
He must know right from wrong, good from bad, fair from unfair, friend from foe
Do I know enough about these?
He sits next to me, looking at me with eyes of wonder and friendship.
Yes, together we will succeed.
